  • Avoid getting your IV site wet during showers or baths
  • Cover the site with plastic wrap if needed
  • Never remove or adjust the dressing yourself
  • Wash your hands before and after touching the IV areathat considers the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of our patients.

 Call your nurse immediately if you notice:  

 

  • Redness, warmth, or swelling around the IV site
  • Unusual drainage or discharge
  • Fever or chills
  • Increased pain or tenderness at the site

  • Difficulty breathing or chest pain
  • Severe allergic reaction (hives, swelling, difficulty swallowing)
  • Loss of consciousness or severe dizziness

  • Store medications in the refrigerator if required
  • Keep all supplies in a clean, dry location away from children and pets
  • Never use medications past their expiration date
  • Dispose of used supplies in provided containers only

  • Your nurse will remain with you throughout your infusion to monitor your care
  • Keep pets and small children away from the infusion area for safety
  • Never adjust pump settings or medication rates - your nurse will handle all equipment
  • Feel comfortable asking your nurse any questions during your treatment

  • Keep the treatment area clean and clutter-free
  • Have emergency contact numbers readily available
